In addition to stating that heavy trucks are now permitted to go and that efforts are on to free the remaining trapped cars, CM Abdullah said he had discussed the present state of affairs with the Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag.

“Just spoke to DC Anantnag about the current situation of the road between Qazigund & the tunnel,” CM Omar Abdullah said in a post on X on Friday night. Traffic is backed up due to the slippery weather. Both directions’ stuck cars are moving slowly and receiving assistance when needed.

“DC was on the spot with his team,” he continued. “I’ve instructed him to ensure that vehicles with families & children must be given priority.”

“Arrangements for overnight housing will be provided if needed. In the event of a medical emergency, an ambulance is on board the DC,” Omar Abdullah said.

On Friday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah traveled from Jammu to Srinagar.

“It snowed continuously from Banihal to Srinagar,” Omar Abdullah remarked, providing updates on the snowfall’s aftermath. The circumstances were quite dangerous. I am aware that over 2000 cars are stranded between Qazigund and the tunnel. My office has maintained communication with the South Kashmir government. The road is quite slick even after the snow has been cleared.

With its first snowfall of the year on Friday, the charming city of Srinagar, which is renowned for its tranquil landscapes and visual splendor, welcomed the winter season.

A new round of snowfall fell on Friday in the union territory’s Baramulla area as well.
