In a moving video posted on Instagram, India captain Rohit Sharma said goodbye to 2024. The movie, a patchwork of both personal and professional experiences, gave viewers a peek inside the 37-year-old cricket player’s crazy year, which was full of happiness, heartache, and treasured memories.

The film began with Rohit and his loved ones enjoying Holi, a celebration that is very special to him. Short clips of his conversations with his wife Ritika Sajdeh, Bollywood star Suniel Shetty, and admirers followed the vivid colors and laughs. The significance of connections and relationships in Rohit’s life was highlighted by these intimate touches.

“Thank you 2024, for all the highs and lows, and everything in between,” Rohit said on Instagram.

Highlights from his cricketing career were also heavily included. The video included scenes from India’s 4-1 series triumph over England earlier in the year, as well as a picture of Rohit standing with emerging sensation Rinku Singh. The montage was made funnier by a hilarious reference to his wildly famous social media post, “Garden me ghoomne wale bande.”

India’s victory in the Men’s T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the USA was recapped in a particularly moving piece. The video showed Rohit holding his daughter Samaira on his shoulders as he raised the trophy and celebrated the win in an open-bus procession in India. Rohit’s victory in the T20 World Cup was bittersweet since it signaled the end of a major chapter in his remarkable career—his retirement from T20Is.

As a sobering reminder of his recent form issues, Rohit posted a moving photo of himself making his way back to the pavilion after dismissal. India is down 1-2 in the current five-match Test series against Australia, and Rohit is having a difficult time as a batter. He has only scored 31 runs at an average of 6.20 in three games, which has angered both pundits and fans.

Rohit, who has now lost all six of his Test matches as captain, was under even more strain after India’s humiliating 184-run loss in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Rohit is under increasing pressure to lead India to a victory in the New Year’s Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground beginning on January 3 with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the balance.
