New Delhi: David Warner who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction has signed up for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft set for January 11. This marks his first entry into the PSL draft. Although he was offered a spot in the 2019 PSL after his ban in 2018/19 Warner declined the opportunity. Now six years later he has registered for the draft potentially joining the league while top players are occupied with the IPL. Despite having a starting price of Rs 2 crore Warner remained unsold in the IPL auction.
Warner began his IPL journey with Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) in 2009 playing with them until 2013. In 2014 he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who named him captain in 2015. Under his leadership SRH won their first IPL title in 2016.
Warners time with SRH came to an unpleasant end when he was stripped of the captaincy and excluded from the playing XI during IPL 2021. He later joined Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 mega-auction where he spent three years. In IPL 2023 he took on the role of captain for the team.
It appears that Warners IPL career has come to an end and he could become a consistent presence in the PSL moving forward. At present he is playing for Sydney Thunder in the 2024/25 Big Bash League season.
