The India-Australia Test series seems to be very fond of controversies. Controversies are not leaving us since the beginning of the series. Nothing was different in Sydney too, where controversy arose over Virat Kohli not being given out in the first day's play. Actually, Virat narrowly escaped being out on the very first ball of his innings. This incident happened in the 8th over of the Indian innings, when Scott Boland was caught by Steve Smith off his bowling. However, after reviewing the TV umpire rejected the catch and a controversy arose.
Now whether Kohli was out or not out… controversy has arisen over that decision of the umpire. World cricket is divided into two factions regarding this. Veteran Indian cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Irfan Pathan consider Kohli not out, whereas in the eyes of foreign greats like Michael Vaughan, Justin Langer, Virat Kohli is out.

In the eyes of the greats of Indian cricket, the umpire gave Kohli not out because the ball touched the ground. However, Langer and Vaughan do not seem to agree with this. According to Langer, he clearly saw that Kohli was out. Steve Smith's finger was under the ball, meaning that the ball had not touched the ground.
Virat Kohli was not out which was rightly called NOT OUT. will explain during the break.

Out OR Not out? An extraordinary catch taken but it's not given out by third umpire Joel Wilson

Justin Langer on the decision:
“From what I have seen there, that makes it more obvious to me that should have been out. Steve Smith had his fingers (underneath the ball), and you could see he was flicking the ball up, it was brilliant what he did.
“He had his fingers under https://t.co/Pn4qXLlqwG
