Hyderabad: Female students of CMR Engineering College in the Medchal district of Hyderabad alleged that the hostel staff recorded their videos in the bathrooms. The matter escalated with the girls' agitation turning into a protest on Wednesday, demanding justice. Soon, members of student unions gathered at the site, intensifying the protest against the accused as they demanded the matter be addressed by the administration as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation, starting with verifying the allegations by the students. A huge crowd of students gathered at the college.
Earlier in November, a 35-year-old woman at the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research on Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, allegedly discovered a mobile phone placed on top of a wall in a toilet. She noticed that the device was positioned to record women’s private areas, as it was placed on a wall separating two restrooms.
The woman, a ward helper at the hospital, took the phone with her when she exited the washroom. A young man working at the same hospital approached her and asked for the phone, but she refused and raised an alarm. Her shouting drew the attention of others, who helped detain the accused. The man was handed over to the police and subsequently arrested.
