Govinda is one of the most well-known names in the Bollywood industry. Over the years the actor has delivered numerous hits though some of his films didn’t perform well at the box office. However do you know about the movie that turned out to be the biggest flop of Govinda’s career? If not scroll down to learn more about this film. Produced by Pahlaj Nihalani and directed by Pahlaj Nihalani and Sikander Bharti the movie in question is Rangeela Raja. After 25 years the duo of Govinda and Pahlaj reunited for this project. The film was an unofficial remake of Rajinikanths 1981 blockbuster Netrikan. In this movie Govinda portrayed a dual role: the womanizing businessman Raja Vijayendra Pratap Singh and the virtuous Yogi Ajay Pratap Singh. The character of Raja Vijayendra Pratap Singh is said to have been inspired by Vijay Mallya. Rangeela Raja turned out to be the biggest flop of Govindas career. The movie failed to recover even 1% of its budget. Made on a budget of ₹19 crores the film reportedly earned only ₹18 lakhs as its overall collection according to a report by NDTV. Reports suggest that the movie was initially scheduled to release on November 6 2018. However it was postponed to 2019 due to delays in obtaining certification. Furthermore Pahlaj Nihalani accused the CBFC of favouring big studios while Govinda held a press conference claiming that people were deliberately opposing the release of his film by not providing it with sufficient screens. Despite all the efforts and controversies the movie tried its best to make an impact at the box office. However it failed miserably.
