Neha Dhupia honours her late father-in-law and legendary cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi with an emotional gesture

While in Australia, actress Neha Dhupia and her husband Angad Bedi are able to watch live action between Australia and Team India during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy.

Neha paid tribute to her late father-in-law, famous cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, with a heartfelt gesture, making her experience of watching the test match at a stadium even more memorable.

He gave her a treasured present for her wedding: his famous Test cricket jumper, which she wore.

“There’s a different kind of warmth when you wear this sweater,” Neha remarked on Instagram.Along with his strength, resilience, integrity, and generosity, I also feel a sense of honor wearing this while watching my first test in person with my @angadbedi. I remember so clearly when my dad asked what I would like for a wedding present, I asked him for his test cricket sweater and how it would be the most special gift for me. Dad, you are missed every day.

Saba, the daughter of former cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, responded to it by saying, “I miss Bishan Uncle and Abba loads, which is the most precious gift of all.” They’re definitely talking about these matches and keeping an eye on us.

On October 23, 2023, Bishan Singh Bedi died at the age of 77. The renowned spinner took 273 wickets in 10 ODIs and 67 Test matches while playing for India.Known for his deep knowledge of the game, Bedi achieved great success with his discipline with the ball, his ability to produce incredible spin, and his graceful and rhythmic bowling motion.

Bedi led India in 22 Test matches and amassed an incredible 1560 first-class wickets, three of which came in overseas matches. Additionally, he participated in India’s first-ever ODI, which was held in Leeds on July 13, 1974. In 1975, Bedi participated in India’s first-ever ODI against East Africa, bowling 12 overs, eight maidens, giving up six runs, and taking one wicket. He also went on to lead India in 22 Test matches. Most people agree that Bedi is the best left-arm spinner in the game.

Bedi was the highest-taking wicket-taker in Test cricket for India at the time of his retirement. He was a national selector after retirement and temporarily held the position of Manager. His remarkable cricket career was duly acknowledged with a number of honors, such as the BCCI’s CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 and the coveted Padma Shri in 1970.
