K Kavitha, an MLC for the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), stepped up her call on Friday for the Telangana administration and the Center to act immediately on her demands for a caste census and 42% OBC quota in local bodies.

Kavitha assured the media that they would not give up until both of these requests were fulfilled.

“As part of the general census scheduled for 2025, we are requesting that the national government undertake the caste census right now. 42% of local bodies should be reserved for OBC groups, according to the state Congress administration.

Thousands of members of the state’s underprivileged classes have assembled here to support these two requests, which are our main priorities for the day. We will not give up until these demands are fulfilled,” she stated.

In response to Kavitha’s demand, Telangana Minister for Transport and Backward Class Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar said that granting BCs privileges inside her own party should be the first step if she really wants to help them.

“I admire Kavitha Ji’s effort in holding a demonstration for the rights of the underprivileged classes in Indira Park. It’s important to note, however, that even after so many years in power, they never gave the backward classes a second thought. Even though you have never nominated a Deputy Chief Minister from the lower classes, you still call on them when the time for elections comes. This is incorrect. Giving backward classes their rightful rights inside your own party is the first step towards really advocating for their rights, according to Prabhakar.

BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) urged party members to step up their opposition to the Telangana Congress administration on Thursday, accusing it of corruption and poor governance.

In a New Year’s greeting, KTR praised the party workers’ year-long efforts to expose the Congress regime’s shortcomings and promised to keep fighting until the people’s rights are upheld.

“The policies of the Congress government are based on dishonesty. You have remained resilient in the face of injustice and false accusations. “Your determination is remarkable and historic,” KTR said.

He underlined that the party must work together and coordinate in order to combat Congress’ purported “divisive politics.” Additionally, KTR reaffirmed the BRS’s motto, “Telangana First,” and exhorted cadres to expose and oppose what he called the Congress’ treachery at every turn.
