Incident Overview
In a shocking incident in Vishwakarma Nagar, Nishatpura, Bhopal, a 61-year-old man was allegedly attacked by his wife on Wednesday morning. The woman reportedly bit her husband at least 12 times, scratched him severely with her nails, and attempted to throw acid (toilet cleaner) on him during a heated argument.
Although the acid didn’t make direct contact with his body, it burned his clothes. The Nishatpura police have registered a case against the woman, charging her with assault and attempted acid attack. She has been taken into custody.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Shrikant Dwivedi, who is leading the investigation, identified the victim as Narayan Lodhi, a 61-year-old truck driver residing in Vishwakarma Nagar. Narayan lives with his second wife, 45-year-old Durga Lodhi, who has two daughters aged 12 and 14 from her previous marriage. Due to his job, Narayan typically visits home only once or twice a week.
On the morning of the incident, Narayan returned home around 10 AM with some household supplies. A dispute quickly erupted between the couple over missing items, escalating into physical violence. According to SI Dwivedi, Durga attacked Narayan, biting him multiple times and scratching him. When Narayan attempted to flee, Durga hurled acid at him, which fortunately only damaged his clothing.
Narayan filed a formal complaint with the police, alleging that his wife is addicted to alcohol and has attacked him on multiple occasions in the past. Despite earlier interventions and counseling by the police, her behavior reportedly remained unchanged.
The police are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
