Lord Shiva Mantra: One of the divine and miraculous mantras of Lord Shiva is 'Maha Mrityunjay Mantra', which was composed by sage Markandeya. This mantra is not only famous for removing the fear of death, but the person chanting it is protected by Lord Shiva himself. According to the scriptures, by regular chanting of this mantra, impending death can be avoided and dangerous consequences like untimely death can also be destroyed. Chanting Maha Mrityunjay Mantra with true heart destroys many difficulties and crises in life and the person gets the blessings of ultimate protection.

Mrityunjaya Mantra and Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra

Many people chant Mrityunjaya Mantra of Lord Shiva, but they do not know that there is a big difference between Mrityunjaya Mantra and Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra. The effect and importance of both the mantras are different. Mrityunjaya Mantra is usually chanted to remove the fear of death and to preserve life, while Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is considered more powerful and divine. This mantra not only protects a person's life but also brings mental and physical prosperity. Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is chanted to obtain the special blessings and protection of Lord Shiva. Both mantras have the highest level of energy, but the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra has a wider and deeper impact.

Mrityunjay Mantra

This mantra begins 'Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam Urvarukamiva Bandhananmrityormukshiya Mamritat' This mantra means that we worship the three-eyed Lord Shiva, who is fragrant and full of life-giving power. Through this mantra, we pray to Lord Shiva to free us from the bondage of death and bless us with immortality. This mantra not only protects life, but also eliminates the fear of death, and the person receives divine blessings.

Maha Mrityunjay Mantra

The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, which proclaims the glory of Lord Shiva, is considered extremely powerful and divine. Reciting this mantra bestows the blessings of peace, protection and immortality to the soul of a person. The mantra begins with 'Om Haun Jun Sa', and is followed by words like 'Om Trimbakam Yajamahe Sugandhi Pushtivardhanam' praying for the protection and prosperity of life. This mantra is considered a means to get freedom from the bondage of death and avoid untimely death by the grace of Lord Shiva. Holy words like 'Om Swah Bhuvah Bhuh Om Sah Jun Haun Om' come at the end of the mantra, which provide mental, physical and spiritual strength to the person. Regular chanting of Maha Mrityunjay Mantra gives self-confidence, freedom from fear and attains ultimate happiness.

Difference between chanting Mrityunjaya Mantra and Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra

There are some important differences in the chanting of Mrityunjaya Mantra and Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra. While Mrityunjaya Mantra can be chanted regularly and in a simple manner every day, Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is chanted with full devotion during havan or rituals.

In Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, recitation of Beej Mantra is considered necessary in the beginning and end, whereas in Mrityunjaya Mantra it is not so. There is also a difference in terms of accomplishment, Mrityunjay Mantra can be accomplished by chanting it 108 times for 6 months, whereas to accomplish Maha Mrityunjay Mantra, it is required to be chanted 1000 lakh times in a year. Thus, chanting the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is a more intensive and elaborate process, performed with special ritual and dedication.
