IND vs. AUS 5th Test: After missing Day 2 of the fifth and final Test match for two and a half hours in Sydney, India’s stand-in captain, Jasprit Bumrah, has returned to the dressing room. On Day 2 of their match against Australia, India’s best bowler and the team’s doctor departed the field midway. After lunch, he went back to the pitch and bowled one over before driving out of the stadium with Anshuman Upadhyay, the integrity manager for Team India.

The fast bowler was spotted hurrying to the hospital for scans after leaving the field after the second session, but thankfully nothing catastrophic occurred. Although the administration of the Indian squad has not made any formal announcements, Bumrah was seen exiting the stadium wearing his training shirt on Fox News.

In the opening session, he bowled four overs and got rid of the top-scoring batsman, Marnus Labuschagne. He now has 32 wickets, the most of any Indian bowler in Australia, and he broke the mark set by former Indian captain Bishan Singh Bedi, who took 31 in the 1977–78 series. After lunch, Bumrah bowled a couple more overs after that session.

He bowled steadily at 135 mph and was not perceived to be in any pain throughout the few overs that he did deliver. Since he has played well throughout this series, the Men in Blue would hope that there isn’t anything to be concerned about and that he isn’t sidelined for the rest of the match.
