Indian telecom providers including Mukesh Ambanis Jio Sunil Mittals Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are introducing new mobile recharge plans to attract customers. While Jio leads the telecom market competitors like Airtel Vi and BSNL continue to challenge its dominance. Vi a private telecom company struggling with losses has unveiled annual recharge plans featuring unlimited data usage from midnight to noon to stay competitive.
The company announced three prepaid plans priced at Rs. 3599 Rs. 3699 and Rs. 3799. These plans offer unlimited data usage from 12 AM to 12 PM daily for a year in addition to the standard daily high-speed data limit.
According to Vi the new annual plans include a SuperHero pack which not only provides half-day unlimited data but also offers a 2GB daily data quota for the other 12 hours. Additionally users can benefit from a weekend data rollover feature allowing them to carry forward unused weekday data for weekend use.
Exclusive features of Vi SuperHero Prepaid Packs:
Unlimited Data: Half-day unlimited data (12 AM to 12 PM) every day.
Daily Data Quota: 2 GB of high-speed data for the remaining hours (12 PM to 12 AM).
Weekend Data Rollover: Users can carry forward unused weekday data and utilise it during the weekend.
OTT Benefits: The Rs. 3699 plan comes with a 1-year Disney+ Hotstar Mobile subscription while the Rs. 3799 plan includes a 1-year Amazon Prime Lite subscription.
The Vi SuperHero plans are currently available in Maharashtra Delhi Gujarat Tamil Nadu Kerala West Bengal Punjab and Haryana. While Jio and Airtel are offering unlimited 5G data to their 4G customers Vi which is still in the process of rolling out 5G services continues to provide 4G services nationwide. Notably the Rs. 3699 plan includes a 1-year Disney+ Hotstar mobile subscription while the Rs. 3799 plan bundles a premium annual subscription.
Decline in customers
Vodafone Idea experienced a loss of 19.77 lakh users in November 2024 a worsening from the 15.5 lakh user loss recorded in September 2024. According to an update from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on December 23 Vodafone Ideas market share stands at 18.30 per cent. In comparison Reliance Jio maintains its leadership position with a market share of 39.9 per cent while Bharti Airtel follows closely in second place with a 33.5 per cent market share.
