‘Kundan, polki sheeshpattis give heritage-inspired elegance to brides’
“Brides love to pair sheeshpattis with their jewellery sets for a royal look. Young brides are choosing lighter, gold-plated styles for festivals and celebrations, as they are stylish, affordable and match both traditional and modern outfits,” says Piyush Gupta, director of a jewellery store. He adds, “Gold sheeshpattis in jadau and kundan styles are popular for their intricate craftsmanship. Jadau features floral or paisley motifs and layered designs, often highlighting cultural and royal influences, with patterns inspired by Mughal or Rajputana heritage. While kundan showcases circular or oval patterns, geometric shapes and pearl combinations. Both styles offer regal, vintage and heritage-inspired elegance, ideal for weddings.”
‘Multi-layered mathapattis are in trend’
Mathapattis or sheeshphool in kundan and polki have been in trend, not only for brides but also for bridesmaids. “Multi-stringed sheeshpatti s are a great choice for brides, with the wider patti at the hairline and the slimmer one is placed across the maang. Brides must select the sheeshpatti basis the size of the forehead and also match it with the jewellery. Keeping the budget and utility in mind, some customers go for single string necklaces with a pendant, wear it as a mathapatti for the function, and later wear as necklace. Temple jewellery sheeshphool is best for a bride who wants to keep it both minimal and classy,” says Puneet Datta Multani, a Delhi-based jeweller.
