After fierce opposition from Hollywood’s biggest names, Payal Kapadia’s film All We Imagine As Light lost a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture in the Non-English Feature category. Jacques Audiard’s musical criminal comedy Emilia Perez emerged victorious.

“Emilia Perez,” which also won Zoe Saldana a Globe for Best Supporting Actress, is about four remarkable Mexican women who are all obsessed with finding happiness for themselves. Emilia, the cartel’s head, begs Rita, a lawyer who isn’t given enough credit, to assist in arranging her death so that she may live authentically.

Almost Everything We Think of as Light

The bonds between two Malayali nurses in Mumbai are at the heart of Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light. Chhaya Kadam, Divya Prabha, and Kani Kusruti are the principal players in this official co-production between France and India. The Malayalam-Hindi movie is produced by Chalk & Cheese, Another Birth, and Petit Chaos.

For those who are unaware, All We Imagine As Light became the first Indian film to participate in the main category in thirty years when it took home the Grand Prix at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

Among the many honors that All We Imagine As Light has received are the Asia Pacific Screen Awards Jury Grand Prize, the Gotham Award for Best International Feature, and the top ranking in the BFI’s Sight and Sound poll for the best film of 2024.

Concerning Golden Globe 2025
Netflix is leading the list of nominees for both the Golden Globes 2025 film and television categories. Nikki Glaser is presenting the prestigious award ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

For the second year, CBS will carry the Golden Globes live throughout the country. The program starts Sunday at 8 PM Eastern and 5 PM Pacific. On Monday, January 6, at 6:30 AM, Lionsgate Play in India will broadcast the awards ceremony live.
