Inside Thomas Tuchel's first day at England HQ as Lee Carsley meeting date finally set

New manager stepped foot on St George's Park soil for the first time on Monday.

Tuchel, 51, was unveiled as permanent successor but only officially . The German, who becomes only the third foreigner to manage England, was handed a lucrative 18-month contract .

His deal with runs until the conclusion of the , a tournament which Tuchel has been tasked with winning. Victory across Canada, Mexico and the United States would end England's agonising 60-year wait to lift a major trophy.

Barry and McDermott accompanied Tuchel on Monday's early-morning tour of St George's Park. His newly-appointed backroom team were there, too, as goalkeeping coach , performance coach Nico Mayer and analyst James Melbourne also got to see the nuts and bolts of England's hub in Burton upon Trent.

Tuchel and Co. were taken around the briefing room, the indoor pitch, the state-of-the-art gym and medical facilities. The ex-, and Mainz boss also saw the pitch, where he met head of grounds and estate Andy Gray, and the St George's grounds team.

Tuchel also bumped into members of the latest FA Pro Licence cohort, including . Former England defender Cole is part of Carsley's coaching staff and worked with the Three Lions' senior squad during the autumn.

After being introduced to his new colleagues in the offices of St George's Park, Tuchel gave a short introductory speech. It included his own personal welcome, as he discussed his vision about the work to come.

On Monday, Tuchel watched the last of his initial four Premier League games. He was at Molineux to see take on high-flying .

say that Tuchel and his team will also spend Tuesday and Wednesday at St George's Park to hold a series of meetings with the various departments. That's when he'll finally sit down with Carsley to reflect on the autumns matches.

He'll also meet with members of the performance and analysis department, and also the team's operations department. They'll discuss the March doubler-header - at home to and away to Latvia - as England begin their campaign at Wembley.
