New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss the upcoming white-ball series against England, which is scheduled to take place ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to reveal the grade of Bumrah’s injury, which has raised concerns about his availability for the prestigious tournament.

According to a report by PTI, Bumrah sustained back spasms during the final innings of the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney. Despite undergoing scans and medical evaluations, the exact severity of his injury remains undetermined. The BCCI is closely monitoring his condition to ensure he is fit for the Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19.

Bumrah’s absence from the England series is a significant blow to the Indian team, as he has been a key performer in recent matches. His injury has prompted the team management to consider resting him to ensure his full recovery before the Champions Trophy.

The BCCI has not provided a timeline for Bumrah’s return, but sources indicate that the recovery period could vary depending on the grade of the injury. If it is a Grade 1 injury, Bumrah might require two to three weeks of rehabilitation. However, a Grade 2 injury could extend the recovery period to six weeks, while a Grade 3 injury, the most severe, would necessitate at least three months of rest and rehabilitation.
