Brazilian football star Neymar has suggested the possibility of reuniting with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami, a move that could rekindle the legendary “MSN” trio that once dominated European football.
In an exclusive interview with CNN on Tuesday, Neymar expressed enthusiasm for the prospect of teaming up with his former Barcelona teammates again.
“Obviously, playing again with Messi and Suarez would be incredible. They are my friends. We still speak to each other,” Neymar said. “It would be interesting to revive this trio. I’m happy at Al-Hilal. I’m happy in Saudi Arabia, but who knows. Football is full of surprises.”
The trio of Messi, Suarez, and Neymar, renowned for their lethal attacking chemistry at Barcelona, dazzled fans for three seasons before Neymar’s world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
While Messi and Suarez stayed together for a few more years at Barcelona, they eventually went their separate ways, with Suarez joining Atletico Madrid. In 2024, however, Messi and Suarez reunited at Inter Miami, while Neymar continued his career with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 79 goals, has faced challenges since his €90 million ($93 million) move to Al-Hilal in 2023. Injuries have limited the 32-year-old to just seven appearances for the Saudi club, where his contract is set to expire in June.
In the interview, Neymar also reflected on his ambitions for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, confirming it would be his last opportunity to compete in the tournament.
“I know this will be my last World Cup, my last shot, my last chance, and I will do everything I can to play in it,” he said.
Brazil, currently in fifth place with 18 points in the South American qualifiers, will need to solidify its position in the remaining six rounds to secure a spot in the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted across 16 cities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, marking the first time three nations will co-host the event. Neymar’s comments have sparked speculation about what could be a dramatic reunion with Messi and Suarez on the global stage or at the club level.
