Human Skull, Bones Found in Fridge In Kochi's Abandoned House That Was Locked For 25 Years
Kochi: A human skull and bones were found inside the refrigerator of an abandoned house in Chottanikara in Kochi, during a police inspection following complaints from residents about antisocial activities in the area.
According to a report by The New Indian Express, the house belongs to a medical practitioner and has remained locked for approximately 25 years. The discovery of the skeletal remains has sparked speculation about possible illegal practices. Police have stated that a detailed investigation will explore all angles.
An officer revealed that the house owner, Philip John, 74, who currently resides in Vytilla, had not used the property, located at Palace Square, for over two decades. The abandoned house, situated on 14 acres of land, had reportedly become a hideout for antisocial elements, the report added.
Residents and the ward councillor raised concerns and filed a complaint with the Chottanikkara police. Then, acting on the complaint, police inspected the premises and uncovered the skull and bones in the refrigerator.
A police officer confirmed that the remains were human after a preliminary examination. The officer stated, "We have summoned the owner for questioning. His children live abroad. A thorough investigation is underway to uncover more details," as quoted by The New Indian Express.
Ernakulam Rural Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena said, "A case has been registered, but further details cannot be disclosed at this time. The forensic examination is scheduled for Tuesday, and more information will emerge after that," as quoted by the publication.
