Every year India witnesses the release of a wide variety of films. While some of these films are made on large budgets others are produced with much smaller financial backing. However it is the big-budget films that generate the most excitement and anticipation not just for the actors but also for the director and producer. These films often come with sky-high expectations. When such films flop it is a major setback for the makers leaving them disappointed and disheartened. Today we are going to talk about a South Indian director who has faced this situation. After delivering a massive flop with a Rs250 crore film he is now gambling Rs 400 crore on his next big project.
After 250 crore flop film director bets on a Rs 400 crore film
This directors name is Shankar. One of the most renowned directors in the South Indian film industry Shankar has an impressive body of work. He is known for making films with grand visuals unique storytelling and a high level of commercial appeal. Shankars previous film Indian 2 was highly anticipated as it was the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian which starred the legendary Kamal Haasan in the lead role.
The success of the original film led to soaring expectations for Indian 2. Unfortunately when Indian 2 was released it did not live up to the hype and was declared a major box office flop.

Despite this setback Shankar is back in the directors chair with another ambitious project Game Changer. Game Changer has quickly become one of the most awaited films of the year thanks to its star-studded cast including Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The film’s budget is reportedly around ₹400 crore making it one of the biggest investments in South Indian cinema. Recently the trailer for Game Changer was released but it failed to generate the kind of buzz that one would expect from a film with such a large budget.
In fact many viewers noted that the trailer had a striking resemblance to Shankar’s previous film Indian 2. So far the trailer hasn’t offered anything particularly groundbreaking that justifies the hefty Rs 400 crore price tag. The audience is now waiting to see whether Game Changer can indeed live up to its massive expectations or if it will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor.
