Khichdo Traditional Recipe: The festival of Makar Sankranti has special significance in Hindu religion. This year Makar Sankranti will be celebrated on 14 January. Sun worship is done on Makar Sankranti. Along with this, there is also importance of charity, charity and kite offering on this day. On this day a special dish is also prepared in every house. Eating rice porridge on day 7 of Makar Sankranti has special significance. This Khichdi is made in every house. Let us tell you today how to make this special Khichdi and which 7 grains should be added to it.

 

7 paddy for khichdi

half cup wheat
1/4 cup millet
1/4 cup millet
1/4 cup toor dal
1/4 cup fine rice
1/4 cup moong dal
1/4 cup chana dal

 

vegetable for khichda

1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup green peas
1/4 cup green toor
1/4 cup green gram

 

other spices

3 tbsp ghee
rye
Cumin
Asafoetida
dried red chilli
cinnamon-clove
neem leaves
chilli powder
turmeric powder coriander powder
powder
Salt
as per taste

 

how to make khichda

To make Khichra, wash wheat, jowar and millet and soak them in water overnight. Next day use soaked wheat, jowar and millet for khichda. Apart from these three pulses, wash the remaining pulses and rice with 3-4 cups of water and mix all the pulses in a big bowl.

7 Boil three times the amount of water in the cooker. – Add ghee and salt in it. When the water boils, put all the rice in the water. – Then add peas, tuvar and moong and close the cooker and whistle for 3 whistles. – Then keep the gas on low for 5 minutes and then turn off the gas.

 

– To wrap Khichra, heat ghee in the pan. Add mustard, cumin and asafoetida. – Add dry red chilli, cinnamon, cloves and add neem leaves and tomatoes. After 5 minutes, when the tomatoes become soft, add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and red chilli as per taste. Mix this Vaghar in Khichda. Hot khichra can be eaten with oil or curd.
