Tamil Nadu: Vaikuntha Ekadashi festival started with great enthusiasm at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple

Tiruchirappalli: On Thursday, the tenth day of the Pagal Pathu celebrations, the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam enthusiastically celebrated the Vaikunda Ekadasi festival.

The majestic procession of Lord Namperumal in the splendid Mohini Alankaram was the high point of the festivities.

The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple celebrates Mohini Alankaram, also called “Nachiar Tirukkolam,” on the eve of Vaikunda Ekadasi. On this unique day, Lord Namperumal is paraded throughout the temple’s inner praharam while wearing the captivating Mohini Alankaram, which represents the lovely feminine form.

In Srirangam, thousands of devotees flocked to the temple grounds to see the magnificent procession, which is regarded as a very auspicious occasion.

To guarantee a seamless and secure celebration, the temple administration undertook complex preparations.

As the day when the gates of Vaikunta, the home of Lord Vishnu, are said to open, the Vaikunda Ekadasi festival is a significant occasion in the Hindu calendar. On this day, devotees pray and fast in an effort to receive the Lord’s favor.

One of the most respected temples in South India, the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is well-known for its many festivals and customs. One special and important part of the temple’s festivities is the Mohini Alankaram procession, which highlights the area’s rich cultural legacy.
