Today Khesari Lal does not need any identity in Bhojpuri cinema. Khesari Lal started his career with Bhojpuri films in the year 2012, but before that he also struggled a lot. Another star of the same film industry, Pawan Singh, has also achieved that position in the industry with a lot of hard work. There is always some bickering going on between Pawan Singh and Khesari Lal.
Pawan Singh entered the film industry in 2003, but started as an actor in 2008. Pawan Singh is senior to Khesari Lal and Pawan Singh's name has spread till Bollywood. In 2024 itself, Pawan Singh has sung a hit song in Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's film 'Stree 2'. Recently, in an interview, Khesari Lal was asked, what would he say about Pawan Singh singing songs in Bollywood? Khesari Lal replied, 'The world is watching Pawan Bhaiya, he is singing songs in Hindi, Bhojpuri cinema will not become bigger with that. If Bhojpuri had to grow by working in Hindi, Pankaj Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) would have made it bigger. Khesari Lal was again asked, 'Bhojpuri stars alone are not able to make Bhojpuri industry big, what is the reason behind this?'

On this Khesari Lal said, 'Nothing is achieved by the action of one person. Pawan Bhaiya has sung some albums and some Hindi songs for films, in which he has a different genre, but on the same lines, when asked to sing in Bhojpuri, people sing like that and do the job. How will you make Bhojpuri cinema bigger with this? Here only this is seen that there should be progress of human being, not progress of Bhojpuri.
Khesari Lal and Pawan Singh worked together in the film Pratigya 2 (2014). After this, both were rarely seen together and now they have started considering each other as rivals. Be it Pawan Singh or Khesari Lal, no one is lagging behind in taunting each other. Still, Pawan Singh often calls Khesari younger brother on public platforms. Khesari Lal has also been found saying that he considers Pawan Singh as his elder brother and there is constant bickering between the brothers.
