Helmed by Mahesh Bhatt Aashiqui not only made Rahul Roy a star but also a household name in the Indian film industry. Despite rising to fame Rahul Roys career in Bollywood had a sharp decline ending at a point where nobody valued him. Rahul Roy shot to fame with the film Aashiqui his performance in the film made him popular in the industry and his fan base started to expand at a rapid pace. At the age of 24 Rahul Roy surpassed the Khans of Bollywood in terms of popularity. His iconic hairstyle looks and dashing personality won the hearts of the audience making him a star in the world of cinema.
The downfall of Rahul Roy
After Aashiqui Rahul Roy was offered back-to-back films with his charming personality every film director wanted him to play the lead role in their films. According to media reports Rahul Roy signed over 45 films in 11 days. Some of the mentionable films are Ghazab Tamasha Sapne Sajan Ke Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee and Naseeb. Although Rahul Roys success formula worked for him in Aashiqui he couldnt do the same in these films.
It can be said that one of the possible reasons for the down of Rahul Roy began when the audience started expecting more from him and he couldnt deliver it. After the blockbuster film Aashiqui the fans wanted to see Rahul Roy playing larger-than-life roles. However the films he signed failed to meet the audiences expectations. After a while seeing too much of Rahul Roy on big screens was another factor in his downfall which ended his career.
Despite having the contract of multiple films Rahul Roys stardom started fading in the 90s itself. None of the films were considered hits and his popularity started falling and he was soon added to the list of forgotten actors of Bollywood.

After having multiple failed attempts to restart his career in films Rahul Roy was seen on the first season of the controversial reality show Bigg Boss way back in 2006. Even on the reality show Rahul Roy chose to be calm throughout the season he avoided any kind of conflicts that further tampered his image. However later Rahul Roy was declared the winner of Bigg Boss 6. This win gave him a small hope of returning to the big screen.
Rahul Roys deteriorating health
Things started to go the wrong way when Rahul Roy suffered a heart attack followed by a brain stroke. Despite receiving the treatment Rahul Roy was unable to pay the bills to the hospital since he was financially struggling. However Bollywood star Salman Khan helped Rahul Roy and quietly paid his bill however Rahul Roy revealed this story in an interview. With his deteriorating health Rahul Roy was in recovery mode and he gradually began to get into acting.
It was in 2023 when Rahul Roy made a comeback after several years the film Agra was played at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. The film not only got significant attention but it was also widely appreciated giving hope to Rahul Roys sinking career in the Indian film industry. This marks the new journey of Rahul Roy in Bollywood this shows the determination of the actor to bounce back despite struggling for many years.
