Tamworth boss makes Drastic decision days before Tottenham FA Cup clash

Tamworth boss Andy Peaks has made the decision to quit his day job and take the manager role on a full-time basis ahead of the club’s third round clash against .

Just days after taking the advantage in the first leg of their semi-final against Liverpool, Spurs are back in cup action this weekend. They travel to the midlands to take on National League side Tamworth at the Lamb Ground on Sunday (12.30pm kick-off).

In typical FA Cup third round fashion, the game will see Tottenham come up against players who play the game on a part-time basis. ’s men will also have to , something that they don’t encounter very often.

As well as the players, manager Peaks has previously split his time between managing the club and working as a support worker at Tresham College in Kettering. However, report that his role at Tamworth is now becoming full-time, with the club using some of the funds raised from the FA Cup run to make it possible.

The 54-year-old has been in charge of Tamworth since February 2022, after previously managing Rushden and Diamonds. The club have gone from strength to strength under his guidance.

After saving them from relegation in his first season, Peaks has since led Tamworth to back-to-back promotions to the National League. They currently sit in 16th place of a 24-team league as they look to establish themselves.

To book their place in the third round of the competition and secure the clash against Spurs, Tamworth have overcome Macclesfield, Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion in the previous rounds of the Cup.
