Recently, the film's lead star Unni Mukundan shared his experience related to the making of the film on News 9 Live. He told why the film is so special?
Regarding Marco, Unni told that at the time of making the film, he was sure that this film was going to be A rated. Unni said that the idea of making the entire film was that this film should give people an experience which they had never seen. Unni said that earlier he had kept himself away from this genre. He was doing only family films for the last 6-7 years. He said that he himself was bored and wanted to connect with today's youth, so he came up with the idea of Marco. He said that he had good examples of good action films like KGF and Leo which were liked by the people. In such a situation he thought of Marco.
People have tagged this film as the most violent film of the country… On this, Unni said that if you ask the people of Kerala, they will probably not agree with this because they have seen most of the world cinema and Marco is their and our It is not the most violent film. Also, he does not want to promote violence at all through the film. He said that I have done many films which were religious, yet no one went to temple or mosque after watching the films. In such a situation, we knew that people are intelligent enough to take the film as a film.
Unni said that today's youth is watching different types of cinema because of OTT, and hence any big budget film or good film of India starts being compared with any world classic. Unni gave a good news to all the fans of Marco. He told that he is also thinking about making Marco 2 and Marco 3. He said that he wants to make the film as a franchise. Marco's idea came from watching many different cinemas. He said that he wanted to show the story of a gangster who has no limits.
Regarding cinema and content, Unni said that he finds the word content quite derogatory. He makes cinema. It takes a lot of time, money and efforts to make a cinema. We are doing good work and we also want that the Malayalam industry should also move towards commercial cinema and get a good business. I also have to pay attention to my team. I not only want my team to be mentally happy by working but also to earn good money. We cannot create hype for the film. Unni said that it was the people who made the film reach so far. We are also organizing events but despite that we did not do so. No one knew us much in Hindi and hence we wanted the film to make its own place.
Regarding his next film, Unni said that now he not only has a better understanding of the market but also has a self-confidence which can take him far. Talking about Pushpa's success and Allu Arjun, Unni said that wherever she is today, she is only because of her hard work. He is a very hardworking man. He wants to take Telugu cinema forward. They deserve all the things that they have today because they have put in a lot of time and efforts to get it. He always tries to do something new, this has not happened overnight. It has taken at least 20 years for this to happen, and so he deserves it all.
