Famously curvy debuted a huge body transformation in the new year and revealed she’d been keeping a “secret” from her fans. Taking to her , a visibly slimmed-down Gemma said she was starting the year two dress sizes smaller, and was on her way to being free to “live her best life” without the stress of constantly trying to lose excess weight.
The reality star then stunned some of her 2.2million followers when she went on to reveal she’d signed up with a company - Yazen - that prescribes weight-loss jabs and offers round-the-clock support from a host of medical specialties alongside them. “I will finally be free,” she said. “I will finally be able to live my best life and just be free from all that upset and stress and turmoil that comes with constantly trying to lose excess weight.”

Gemma said she’d decided to start taking medication - which is listed on Yazen’s website as GLP-1 weight loss injections - after trying “every diet her whole life”, and seeing the results first-hand around her. While many of her followers were shocked by her new medicinal diet regime, that the dramatic change has been a long time coming.
“Gemma’s tried almost every diet going and nothing has ever really worked for her, but she’s always said she wants to be healthy,” the source claimed. “She isn’t just focused on how she looks, this is about her wanting to be as healthy as possible and feel confident.”
Over the years Gemma, who turns 44 at the end of the month, has talked about by a hypnotist, surviving a where she consumed only liquids, and adopting a fibre-only diet which she said helped her lose 20lbs in one week.
Over the last few years she’s also regularly shared fitness and health updates, with videos of herself working out in the garden of her Essex barn home. She reportedly lost around three stone between 2019 and 2024, and revealed she was even considering trying for a baby with her fiancé .
However, our source says Gemma’s attempts to address her weight once and for all isn’t driven by anything other than her desire to be healthy and happy, and claimed, “it isn’t about looking good on her wedding day or anything, she’s doing this for herself.”
While most of the GC’s fans stuck to complimenting her new look - which included a newly-cut feathery fringe - others were more shocked at her news. One wrote, “Here we go - another celebrity joining the trend." Another claimed, "As soon as you stop you put it all back ON."
A few others questioned what happened to her recent fibre-first approach, which Gemma claimed was the answer to all her weight woes when she worked with health coach Steve Bennett, author The Fibre First Diet, last summer.
But Gemma, who , said she was working with Yazen to “manage her weight responsibly” through approved medication and a team of support from doctors, psychologists, dieticians and others.
While the results were clear for all to see, nutritionist and personal trainer Niki Woods says anyone considering taking GLP-1 injections need to consider very carefully what they’re doing to their body.
“Any way of eating which drastically reduces your calorie intake - and especially anything which reduces it dramatically below your needs - is likely to lead to significant loss of lean muscle," she said.
"Anyone using GLP-1 injections (or any other weightloss method) should focus on the quality of their nutrition, especially ensuring they get enough protein, and should weight train following a regular, progressive programme, to ensure they're giving their body the best chance to preserve precious muscle."
But our source says Gemma has done all her homework and considers the medication more of a life-changing fix than a quick one.
“She’s done all her research and she’s doing it properly with people around her who know what they’re talking about,” they claimed. “Issues come up for some people when they’re not taking the injections with the right guidance and expert help, but Gemma’s doing it all properly and she’s given it a lot of thought.
“She’s still absolutely all about body positivity and embracing her body, there’s no change in that, but she wants to be healthy as well.”
Gemma opened up in her video about the emotional toll her dieting has taken in the past, and said she’d suffered years of “being bullied and tortured” for her appearance.
“I feel like a massive weight’s been lifted off my shoulders because I’ve finally found something that works for me…. The struggle is real. Only if you’re overweight do you know the struggle, you know the downfalls, you know what you go through.”
Good luck, Gem!
