Nowadays people are being cheated through different types of scams. Every day a large number of people become victims of cyber fraudsters and lose their hard-earned money. Now Reliance Jio has warned its customers about a new type of fraud. Jio has issued an advisory stating that in this scam the user receives missed calls from international numbers. If someone calls back on these numbers, then expensive rates have to be paid.

Fraud is happening through the Premium Rate Service Scam

Reliance Jio has sent an email to its customers asking them to be cautious about this. It is written in the email that never calls back on missed calls from unknown international numbers. These premium rate service charges a lot of money per minute. Even a small delay can result in huge charges.

This is how this scam works

In this scam, scammers first give a missed call from international numbers. When someone calls them back, they connect him to a premium service. Due to this, the person calling sometimes has to pay a charge of Rs 100 per minute. In this, scammers repeatedly make missed calls from the same number. Such missed calls often come late at night or early in the morning. So be alert and do not call back on missed calls from unknown international numbers.

How to protect yourself from such scams?

• If you are getting repeated missed calls from suspicious numbers then block that number.
• Do not call back on any missed call from an unknown international number. If any number is not prefixed with +91, then it is an international number.
• Report suspicious numbers to local authorities immediately. Avoid such scams yourself and ask others around you, especially children and the elderly, to be cautious of them.
