₹51,00,00,000! That's What L&T's SN Subrahmanyan Earns, While Wanting To Make His Employees Slog 90 Hours A Week

SN Subrahmanyan, the Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has become a household name just in the past few days. And the reasons for the same are not necessarily positive.

SN Subrahmanyan created a stir by saying that he regrets he cannot make his employees work on Sundays. In addition, SN Subrahmanyan also added that, like China, he wants Indians to work for 90 hours a week or about 15 hours a day.

This comes at a time when certain reports have projected the stark difference in the amount of salary earned by the L&T veteran compared to others.

The median average salary of SN Subrahmanyan is reported to be around Rs 51.05 crore (₹51,00,00,000) a year or around Rs 4.25 crore a month. This amount is 535 times higher than the average employee salary of Rs 9.77 lakh.

According to an X (Money Theory) user, Subrahmanyan has seen his salary triple just in the past decade. In 2014, Subrahmanyan, before becoming the head of the company in 2017, earned around Rs 13 crore a year.

India's GDP Per Capita

India has a GDP per capita, that is the GDP contribution of each individual to the overall GDP of USD 2,484.85 or about Rs 2,13,399 per year.

This is lower than neighbouring Bangladesh's USD 2,529.08.

China, a nation, most opinion leaders aspire to chase has a GDP per capita of USD 12,614.06. Meanwhile, the US has a GDP per capita of over USD 80,000.

In addition, India has a national average income of stands at Rs. 98,374.

SN Subrahmanyan has been at the helm of the conglomerate for close to eight years, since he took over the reins in July 2017. He has been part of the company since 1984, after he completed his graduation in Engineering and his post graduation in business management.
