Jadeja posted a picture of his Test jersey which has since gone viral on X (formerly Twitter). Many fans have been left wondering about the meaning behind the image with some speculating that Jadeja might be announcing his retirement from Test cricket. Its worth noting that Jadeja retired from T20I cricket after Indias World Cup victory in June last year but continues to play in Test matches and ODIs. The all-rounder failed to make an impact during the Test series which India lost 1-3. Jadeja managed to take just 4 wickets in three matches and scored 135 runs at an average of 27. Reports suggest that his performance is being closely reviewed and the BCCI selection committee may soon make a decision regarding his future in the team. There are indications that selectors are considering alternatives beyond the veteran player. India head coach Gautam Gambhir wants to create a strong base for the 2027 ODI World Cup and he is keen to giving exposure to a few more identified players stated a Times of India report while quoting a BCCI source. India is gearing up for their next international series featuring five T20Is and three ODIs against England starting on January 22 in Kolkata. Following this the team will head to Dubai to kick off their Champions Trophy journey. The squads for these upcoming matches have not been announced yet.
