At the beginning of his career, Rajkumar Santoshi has made films like 'Ghatak', 'Ghayal' and 'Damini', in which it is shown how to raise voice against injustice. He has also got success through these films. After this he made some more films, but he did not get success. After this he brought 'Halla Bol'. The story of 'Halla Bol' was similar to his old films. It has also been shown that one should not remain silent and raise one's voice against injustice. Rajkumar Santoshi's 'Halla Bol' has completed 16 years. On this special occasion, the director answered some questions in an interview with Zoom regarding the making of the film 'Halla Bol'. In the conversation, Santoshi told how she completed her thriller film with Ajay Devgan.
When the filmmaker was asked that in 'Halla Bol', Ajay Devgan has played the role of a pampered film star who is a witness to a murder. This film is about social awareness. In such a situation, how do you see this based on your experience?
In response, Santoshi said, “This was an important film. It showed how we need to rise above thinking only about our own interests. Even though it has been 16 years since Halla Bol, we still keep thinking about moving away from the problems of others. If we are going on the road and someone has an accident and is injured. Then instead of stopping, we try to run away from there quickly, because who would want to get into trouble. We have become so engrossed in our own world that even if the husband of a woman in the neighborhood tortures her, we ignore it because we have the mentality that what do we care about others.”
Rajkumar Santoshi also revealed that 'Halla Bol' was first offered not to Vidya Balan but to Priyanka Chopra. He said, “When the initial script of the film was being written, the film was offered to Priyanka Chopra. But she said that she wants to do another film with me. Although we have not worked together yet, but who knows what the future holds.”
Apart from Ajay Devgan, Vidya Balan, Pankaj Kapoor, Darshan Jariwala were seen in lead roles in 'Halla Bol'. The special characters included Kareena Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Sridevi and Sayali Bhagat.
