Manchester United players had to hold back Harry Maguire as he confronted Kai Havertz when tensions boiled over at the Emirates Stadium.
Sunday's FA Cup tie between and ended with a 5-3 penalty shootout win for Ruben Amorim's side, who were down to ten men. Bruno Fernandes handed the visitors the lead only for their effort to be undone when Diogo Dalot was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
Shortly after, levelled with a half-volley but the drama did not end there. Referee Andy Madley awarded Arsenal a penalty after Havertz fell to the ground as he appeared to collide with Maguire's arm.

Tension boiled over with not pleased with the decision at all. During the replays, he was shown mouthing a three-word comment at the attacker he was judged to have fouled.
"You cheating s***house," he said. Maguire proceeded to argue with the opposition and picked up a yellow card as a result.
Alongside Maguire, Gabriel was also shown a yellow card. Moments later, Altay Bayindir deniedas he palmed away the midfielder's attempt from 12 yards.
After 90 minutes and extra-time, the tie ended 1-1 and was decided on penalties. Bayindir would once again deny an Arsenal star, this time Havertz.
Speaking after the game, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta : "Incredible how we didn’t win the game, that’s basically to sum up, the dominance, the superiority in relation to the opposition and everything we did to try to win the game and that’s it, we didn’t get what we deserve clearly, but there is an element about putting the ball in the back of the net, we did it once, with the amount of situations, chances, penalties that we had, we didn’t.
"We go home extremely sad but I cannot be prouder of my players, the team, individually, collectively what they have produced, on Wednesday night against Newcastle, against two top teams, it’s incredible. We haven’t got rewarded and that’s the downside to it."
Despite the defeat, Arsenal also lost Gabriel Jesus to injury. "Big worry," he added.
"That's my feeling. He had to come off on a stretcher with a lot of pain. Touching his knee, it’s not looking good."
