New Delhi: England will be facing India in a T20 series beginning from January 22. It is an important series for both the teams ahead of the Champions Trophy. The fate of the participation of the fast bowler from England Saqib Mahmood hangs in balance because of his visa. The reason behind the same is Mahmood being a Pakistani and having not received his visa to go to India till now. Saqib Mahmood who has played two Tests nine ODIs and 18 T20 internationals has taken a total of 38 wickets. The medium pacer is currently training in the UAE and was supposed to be part of the camp for fast bowlers called by his team but could not board his flight because his passport was still with the Indian embassy. This might cost him a chance to play against India. Other England bowlers including Jofra Archer and Mark Wood are practicing in the UAE under the tutelage of veteran James Anderson. The severe weather conditions in England have added to Mahmoods woes and the sooner his visa is sorted out the better. The situation mirrors a previous incident where young spinner Shoaib Bashir faced similar visa delays during Englands last tour of India. As the T20 series approaches cricket fans are eager to see if Mahmood will secure his visa and contribute to the teams efforts in Kolkata Chennai Rajkot Pune and Mumbai. Following the T20 matches England will also play three ODIs making this tour critical for their Champions Trophy preparations. Until now the England and Wales Cricket Board has not issued an official update about Mahmoods visa. The cricketing fraternity is waiting to know the news an issue of utmost urgency since it can affect the series.
