Bollywood has evolved over the ages. Many actors made their debut and tried their and while some managed to sustain themselves others left the industry. Not only that but in terms of content as well the industry has seen so many changes. While earlier bold scenes were shown in hush-hush moments now actors and actresses openly talk about them and do not hesitate to do such scenes. However one thing which todays Bollywood emphasises is the consent of both actors before doing that. However do you know that decades ago when in Bollywood intimate scenes were shot the concept of consent never existed?
While today it may seem shocking and abrupt back in the early days it was not so much of a big deal. Back in 1969 a controversy erupted when an actor was forced to kiss a 15-year-old on a film set. Yes you read that correctly! In 1969 this actress began her career as a leading lady. She is none other than Rekha the daughter of actors Pushpavalli and Gemini Ganesan.
At just 15 years old she signed on for Anjana Safar which was later renamed Do Shikaari and was cast opposite Bengali superstar Biswajit Chatterjee who was 32 at the time. In her recently released biography Rekha revealed a disturbing incident which involved Biswajit and the film’s director Kuljit Pal.
The veteran actress revealed how she was conspired to elicit a kissing scene from her without her consent. The scenes requirement was for the actor to romance Rekha. However as the camera started to roll he forcefully kissed her which caught her by surprise She also said that the director did not cut the shot.
After the scene Rekha was left devastated and was crying. Reports claim that the actress was left horrified at how she was treated and had to be cajoled to return to shoot more scenes. In one of the interviews the lead actor Biswajit defended his act saying that he only did what the director asked him to and laughed at the incident. - Rectify grammatical mistake punctuation mistakes spelling mistakes and maintain the consistency of the article and do not change any content in the article
