‘Fake news is easy to spread’: Jasprit Bumrah rubbishes recent ‘bed rest’ reports

New Delhi: Star India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah dismissed the recent reports about his fitness. As per the media reports, he is advised bed rest after the back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He got injured during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney and decided not to bowl in the match from Day 2 onwards. After the end of the series, there was big uncertainty about his participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to begin on February 19.

According to a Times of India reportthe 31-year-old was advised bed rest until the swelling on his back subsides but Bumrah declined the report by reacting to a tweet that claimed the same and wrote “I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable”.

The content aggregator deleted the original tweet after Bumrah’s reaction with a quote tweet. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to release an official statement on Bumrah’s injury, but it was reported that he is expected to visit the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for further assessments. His injury concerns also forced India to delay their plans to announce a 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy by a week.

Bumrah wins ICC Player of the Month for December

Jasprit Bumrah recently won the ICC Player of the Month award for December after his sensational bowling performances in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The star India fast bowler was the highest wicket-taker in the five-match Test series, taking 32 wickets in nine innings at an average of 13.06. He also picked up three five-wicket hauls during the series.

The Men in Blue lost the five-match series by 3-1 and failed to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).
