Pakistani renowned singer Jawad Ahmad has been accused of misconduct with LESCO officials during an investigation into alleged electricity theft.
The incident reportedly took place at a beauty salon owned by Ahmad’s wife in Johar Town, Lahore. LESCO officials visited the salon to inspect suspected tampering with the electricity meter. According to a complaint filed at Nawab Town police station, Ahmad, accompanied by his associate Adeel and four unidentified individuals, confronted the LESCO team. The complaint alleges that Ahmad verbally abused the officials, issued threats, and even attempted to drive his Vigo pickup truck into them.
LESCO authorities say that their investigation found evidence of tampering with the electricity meter of the salon to facilitate power theft. As a result, the electricity supply to the premises was disconnected. LESCO has shared evidence and details with senior officials to support the claims.
Police had said they have accepted the complaint and started an investigation into the same. No one has been caught so far in the case and the investigation continues.
Till date, no comments have come from Jawad Ahmad or any of his agents, and the current affair has got a lot of attention, also with many bringing up issues to electric theft and hassles faced by the utility corporations in dealing with such violations.
