A report detailed some of the events that transpired in the dressing room during the Melbourne Test during the five-match Test series, which India ultimately lost 1-3.

Amidst several rumors, a recent revelation said that Gautam Gambhir, the coach of India, stole the identity of a player who disclosed information about the Indian dressing room during the BCCI review meeting. In a video clip, News 24 identified the player as Sarfaraz Khan.

Speaking about the rumor, spin legend Harbhajan Singh had a message for Gautam Gambhir and urged common sense to win out.

“There are triumphs and losses on the field regardless of what has transpired in the last few days, whether it was in Australia or elsewhere. However, fresh rumors shouldn’t emerge from the dressing room every day. According to a report today, Sarfaraz Khan leaked dressing room conversations to the media, according to coach Saab Gautam Gambhir. Coach Saab shouldn’t have said this if he did. As the coach, you might have spoken with Sarfaraz Khan if he had done this in Australia. Make him realize that he is a player. On his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh said, “He is a young player who will play for India in the future.”

It is our responsibility as experienced players to provide knowledge to younger players. Gambhir is incorrect if he claims that Sarfaraz disclosed the information and the player has really done so. Conversations in the dressing room should not be publicly shown. Given that Gautam Gambhir is fresh to the position, he deserves some time. Additionally, the players must have time to adjust to the new system.

The renowned off-spinner continued by saying that the dressing room’s affairs should stay there.

“You need to sit down and work out the problem. In Indian cricket, there have been a lot of rumors during the last six to eight months. It is crucial that instructors and players work together in cooperation. The same situation occurred during Greg Chappell’s tenure in the 2005–06 season.

Following India’s loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI, head coach Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and captain Rohit Sharma had a review meeting. The specifics of the discussion were made public one by one.

“Why and by whom is this being done? Speaking negatively of your own family members in public damages your family’s reputation, Harbhajan Singh said.

Notably, Australia won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time since 2014–15, although Sarfaraz did not play a single match throughout the five-Test trip.
