Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has implemented digital reforms for more than 10 crore of its members. With this, tasks like fund transfer and change in personal information have now become very easy. Members will no longer need to go to the EPFO office, because these tasks can be done sitting at home through just one OTP.
Under the new rules, EPFO members will be able to correct their personal information like name, father's name and date of birth. Earlier, these changes required a long and complex process. Now, due to digital platforms and OTP based systems, these tasks have become faster and simpler.
About 8 lakh complaints related to personal information correction were pending in EPFO. With these reforms, quick resolution of these complaints will be possible. Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that this step will also reduce the workload in EPFO offices.
Transferring funds from EPFO account after changing job has now become easier than before. Earlier this process used to take several days, but now it can be completed in a few minutes through an OTP.
EPFO has successfully rolled out the Centralized Pension Payments System across the country. More than 68 lakh pensioners will benefit from this. The need for bank verification to start pension has ended, and pensioners can now withdraw pension from any bank.
Digital reforms will not only save time of members, but will also reduce long queues and crowding in government offices. This is a big step towards the “Digital India” mission, which is making the lives of crores of EPFO members easier.
These reforms not only reflect technological advances but are also an important initiative towards promoting transparency and efficiency.
