The process of conducting the postponed census of 2021 can start in 2025. For this, a special allocation can be made in the upcoming budget. In 2019 itself, Rs 8,754 crore was allocated for the 2021 census, and Rs 3,931 crore for updating the National Population Register (NPR).

After six years, almost double the amount will be required for this. To complete the census, more than 33 lakh census personnel will need to be trained and digital equipment will have to be purchased for them so that they can collect the census data in digital form.

The census could not be done first due to Corona, then due to elections.

According to highly placed sources, the census had to be postponed first due to Corona and then the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but the government has now decided to get it done. It can be considered to have started with the allocation of funds for this in the upcoming budget.

Special training will be given to 33 lakh personnel.

The training of master trainers to train 33 lakh census personnel can start in September or October. After this, the training of census personnel at the state and then district level will be completed before March 2026. According to sources, the process of counting houses, cattle, vehicles, and other equipment will start from April 1, 2026, and will run till September 30, 2026.

NPR data will be upgraded

Along with the counting of houses, the data of NPR will also be upgraded. Under NPR, all kinds of social, economic, and educational information about a person living in a village or locality is collected. For the first time, NPR was done in 2010 during the UPA government, which was updated in 2015. According to sources, after the counting of houses, the actual census will run from February 7, 2026, to February 28, 2026, in which all the people living within the country will be counted.

The work of updating the census will be done in March 2026

Meanwhile, the work of updating the census by counting the newborns born will be done between March 1 and 5, 2026. Since the census will be completely digital, its report can be available within a month, which the government can use to make new policies and correct the old policies with the new census.

You can also give information on the census portal yourself.

In the digital census, common people can also be given the option to provide their information on the census portal themselves. The census worker will only have the responsibility to confirm it. This time geo fencing has been arranged to collect accurate census data.

Complete data will be safe in the central portal.

With this, data can be filled in the digital device given for the census only when the census worker himself is present in that area. Once the data is filled, the data will be safe in a central portal. Obviously, through the central portal, the process of census can also be monitored across the country.
