The much-loved series returned to our screens on Sunday night (January 19), featuring Rosalind (Natalie Quarry) caring for first-time parents Norma (Alexa Davies) and Don (Garmon Rhys).

However, upon delivering their baby, it became clear something was wrong. In a devastating twist, Dr Turner (Stephen McGann) revealed the newborn had a blister filled with spinal fluid, indicating spina bifida.

The news that their child would require surgery left the parents distraught. Later, they were found packing their bags, confessing they couldn't provide for their daughter's needs and intended to place her in care.

A subsequent meeting with social services - where it was admitted there were insufficient resources to intervene - left the Nonnatus House midwives devastated.

Yet, viewers were distracted by the appearance of the social worker, played by Lisa Coleman, best known as Cam Lawson from CBBC's Tracy Beaker series, which she starred in intermittently from 2002 to 2023.
