Gordon Ramsay says there's one dish you should 'never' order from a restaurant

Celebrity chef has shared some insider dining tips - including the one dish he usually avoids when eating out.

In a chat with Town and Country, he revealed that the 'soup of the day' can often be a way for to use up leftovers or recycle yesterday's specials. He advised diners to ask about the previous day's soup before ordering it, quipping: "Ask what yesterday's soup du jour was before today's special.

"It may be the case that it's the soup du month." To uncover a restaurant's best dishes, Ramsay suggests asking your server for their recommendations, reports .

He said: "It depends on the restaurant, but servers tend to taste most of the dishes on the menu and can give you insight into what the chef has added and what the locals have," which can lead to some "great recommendations".

The renowned chef also warned against restaurants making grandiose claims about their food, such as "world's best," "famous," or "best in the country."

According to Ramsay, another red flag is an excessively long list of specials on the menu, which may not be as enticing as they appear. In a chat with The Mail, Gordon highlighted: "Specials are there to disappear throughout the evening. When they list 10 specials, that's not special."
