The attacker of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan got trapped because of his own brother. The accused of the attack, Shariful Islam, had absconded after attacking Shehzad Saif. Later, dozens of teams of police and Mumbai Crime Branch worked day and night to find him. But when he was caught, he started falsifying his identity. However, the police interrogated him to reveal the truth and to prove the truth, they even got his school leaving certificate from Bangladesh on his mobile.
The accused was caught from the police station on Sunday. Initially the accused gave wrong information to mislead the investigating officers. He claimed that he was a resident of Kolkata. The accused had earlier told the police his name was Vijay Das. Later it was revealed that his name was Shariful Islam Shahzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Faqir. The age of the accused is 30 years.
Based on preliminary investigation, a police officer said, “After the attack, Fakir hid in the garden of the Satguru Sharan building where Saif Ali Khan lives. He remained hidden there for about two hours in fear of being caught.” Police said that he had entered the apartment with the intention of stealing a large amount of money.
In fact, after being caught, to trick the police, he said that he was from Kolkata and his name was Vijay Das, although he failed to show any document to prove this. Then during interrogation he revealed the truth. Police said, “He called his brother and asked him to send him his school leaving certificate. His brother sent him on Fakir's phone. This document is strong evidence to prove that he is a citizen of Bangladesh.”
