Veer Pahariya is making his big screen debut with Sky Force. The actor will be sharing the screen with none other than Akshay Kumar. And when working with such a veteran with a versatile body of work there is so much to learn. On the latest session of Spotlight with Smrity when asked if he got any advice from Akshay the rising star revealed ‘I took a lot of advice from him. I used to ask him if I could call him and discuss things. I used to tell him what I was thinking about a particular scene and how I was planning to do it and he was always there to guide.”
To summarize Akshay’s advice to him at this nascent stage of his career Veer said “He told me ‘kabhi yeh mat socho ki zindagi khatam ho gai hai agar kuch nahi chala toh. Kaam ki izzat karoge toh kaam tumhari izzat karega’.” (Never think that it is the end of life if something doesn’t work. Just keep on working. If you respect your work your work will respect you back.) Veer feels that this advice is applicable to everyone across fields “In our lives we see more failures than successes. Bus kaam karte raho focus ke saath and shut out all the noise.”
Veer also recalled doing his first scene with Akshay Kumar and admits feeling extremely nervous. “My first scene with Akshay is a very crucial one. I was very nervous and I was wondering if he would agree to rehearse with me. He is a thorough professional and has worked with every type of actor. He is so versatile and when I met him I was pleasantly surprised. He is still hungry like a youngster a newcomer. He wants to give every shot his best. He is so committed kaam ke alawa kuch nahi dikhta hai unko. That hunger to do better has been my biggest takeaway while working with him.”
Sky Force also stars Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur and releases in theatres on January 24 2025. It is based on real life war hero Squadron Leader Ajjamada Devayya who played a crucial part in the Indo-Pak war of 1965. The film is directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani and produced by Jyoti Deshpande Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan.
