As the weeks stretch out before us, summer seems like a far-off dream.

However, there's another winter sun destination that's perfect for topping up your Vitamin D levels, and it's just a few hours from the UK.

Known for its pristine white beaches that could give the Maldives a run for their money and crystal clear waters, Hurghada is around a five and a half hour flight away, making it quicker to reach than the Middle East and manageable for a week-long getaway.

For those looking to explore Egypt's renowned sites, Luxor and Cairo are just a day trip away from Hurghada.

However, there is an alternative in the form of 'Mini Egypt Park', a unique model village showcasing miniature versions of Egypt's iconic landmarks, including the pyramids.

Additionally, the Hurghada Grand Aquarium, one of Africa's largest, offers a glimpse into the Red Sea's marine life, housing rare species such as tiger sharks and eagle rays.

According to Skyscanner, flights from Gatwick to Hurghada in February start from around £75 one way, excluding seat allocation or baggage allowance. In March, prices start from £49, with direct flights from Glasgow, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Liverpool.
