Times Life January 24, 2025 06:39 PM
Tired of waiting in long queues in hospitals to see your doctor? How it would be if you can see your doctor by sitting at your home or office just through your pc or smart phone. would be very time saving and easier no! But how would it feel if you come to know that the doctor who assigned you treatment was a smart computer, not a human. This is exactly what is going to happen in world's first AI Hospital- Agent Hospital.
Agent Hospital: Revolution Of Technology And Medicine
China already being a leader in worldwide AI has now also surpassed united states by coming up with a new groundbreaking revolution in the field of MedTech. It has developed an AI hospital named "Agent Hospital", A virtual hospital with AI Functioning and Robot Doctors. World's first AI Hospital developed at Beijing, China by researchers of Tsinghua University.

This Hospital will completely function through Artificial Intelligence with Robot Doctors and Nurses. A team of 14 Robot doctors and 4 robot nurses has been developed till now and being trained by a large group of Top Medical Practitioners and surgeons of China.
If this AI Hospital where patients will be treated by robot doctors and taken care by Robot Nurses gets successfully planted and becomes accessible for people, it will create a drastic revolution in the healthcare sector.

The AI Hospital is willing to save patient's valuable time and resources through virtual meetings and telemedicine, also providing more accurate diagnosis and treatment in much lesser time as compared to human doctors.
Meet The Robot Doctor "Xiao Yi"
Xiao Yi is an AI Powered Robot that is designed to become a medical professional. This robot is fed with all the medical text book information, clinical diagnosis and number of previous medical cases as well as clinical experience from medical experts. This robot is developed by leading Chinese AI company "IFlyTek Co.". What makes Xiao Yi special from other Robo-Docs is that it is the first robot to clear the national medical licensing exam of China .

according to the reports of joint lab of China, Xiao Yi has studied nearly 53 medical books, one million medical images and 400,000 medical reports.
However it has passed the test with flying colours, But there were notable problems seen with it performing as a doctor during the examination including how it would communicate, examine and interact with patients.

Xiao Yi has become the first certified robot doctor but it has still a long way to start practicing as a qualified medical practitioner.

Ways In Which The AI Hospital And Doctors Will Be Beneficial To The Healthcare Sector and People:
  • cost and Resource saving: Virtual hospitals and Ai doctors will save infrastructure costs required to set up large physical buildings for patient's visit and examination.
  • AI doctors can treat up to 3000 medical cases a day which will take 1 to 2 years for a human doctor to treat this number of cases. this will fulfill the requirement of increasing population and rising demand of doctors.
  • AI doctors and hospitals will provide people with access to cheaper medical appointment and treatment as there won't be shortage of doctors.
  • Robot doctors will have ability to make diagnosis with unprecedented accuracy.
  • It has the unique ability to detect disease at their earlier stages using advanced medical imaging technology. for instance, in the field of oncology it can detect a minor tumor or lumps of tissues that can be missed by human eyes.
  • Every patient's body is unique having unique symptoms of diseases, AI doctors can design a treatment plan according to the unique needs of the patient's body that will maximize the efficiency of treatment and minimize the risk of side effects by analyzing genetic data, medical history and other personal factors of patients.AI doctors will make performing research much more easier and efficient.
The use of AI in hospitals will also help in advanced medical training. medical students can benefit from AI by having access to advanced learning models based on real data. this can help better prepare the next generation of doctors and health care professionals with the tools and knowledge need to thrive in an increasingly technological medical environment.
Will AI Doctors Replace Human Doctors?

Imagine you are in the operation theatre having a surgery being performed on you, blood is flowing through your veins and the battery of doctor gets discharged suddenly in between the surgery. who will then take the responsibility of your life? will you protest against robots?
so here arises a major question that will humans be able to trust robots as their doctors? however it can be proven as a revolutionizing development in the field of medicine but a number of doubts are there-
will robots be able to handle critical medical conditions that requires human understanding?
what will happen if a condition comes in front of a robot doctor about which required data is not fed to the chip of the robot?
what will happen if during a surgery the battery of the robot turns low or what if the system of the robot hangs suddenly?

All these questions gives the answer in one word that is "NO". AI doctors can not replace human doctors. as it doesn't matter how much the artificial intelligence gets intelligent, it won't be more intelligent than the human brain. AI doctors will only work as assistant doctors under senior human doctors. These AI doctors will be helpful in reducing load of doctors and hospitals as one doctor will be able to assist multiple robot doctors at a time and these AI doctors will treat patients at a much higher speed than human doctors.

It is sure that AI can not take place of human doctors still it causes some challenges for the future doctors as it increases the competition by demanding more skilled and smart doctors that can assist AI doctors and can take work through them. it will reduce the need of number of doctors and of much more smarter and intelligent doctors that can dominate AI, it will make the medical exams more tough for the aspirants.

Although AI can't replace the work of humans but In this world of developing technology and AI, humans will need to work more smarter and harder to stay in the field. AI will not replace human healthcare professionals instead they will act as a powerful tool to improve their diagnostic and treatment capabilities. together AI doctors and Human doctors can transform the medical field making it accessible to people for whom availing medical facilities and getting best treatment is still a kind of luxury.
