In Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, 17 people died of mysterious disease recently. After which the entire area was declared a containment zone. The entire administration remains alert due to continuous deaths. Under this, various water sources are being investigated. In which sampling of water spring is also being done, during which 37 out of 40 waterfalls located in two districts of Central Kashmir have not been found to be drinking. This is the reason that in the notice issued by the Water Power Department, people have been advised to avoid drinking water from the waterfalls.
In recent times, jaundice cases have also increased in this area, after which the administration had collected water samples, which were sent to the lab. Of these, 37 samples have been found infected with bacteria in the investigation of 40 samples. The administration has appealed people not to drink water from water. It is also said that if you have to use it under compulsion, then it will be fine for health by boiling it well.
Apart from this, natural sources, bavalis are being used to supply water in the villagers and hilly areas of Rajouri, Poonch and Doda. It is also being regularly investigated. Currently there is no danger.
In Jammu and Kashmir, people are consuming water from open sources like rivers and waterfalls due to unavailability of tap water. However, the Water Power Department has claimed that it has covered 81 percent of the population with tap water connection.
The government has not yet known the real cause of illness and deaths in far-flung and hill villages of Rajouri. To prevent further deaths and illness, the government has declared it a containment zone and has taken several medical measures to protect the villagers.
