Jayshri Gayatri Food Products was accused by a social worker of sending poor quality dairy products abroad by creating fake lab reports.

In Madhya Pradesh, ED raided some locations of Jayshree Gayatri Food Products. After this, news came from Bhopal that the company's 31-year-old director Payal Modi (Jayshri Food Products Director) attempted suicide. Payal's husband Kishan Modi is the owner of the company. Currently, Payal is undergoing treatment in a private hospital. Her condition is said to be critical.

On January 29, ED raided the locations of Jayshree Gayatri Food Products in Bhopal, Sehore and Morena districts. It has been learned that the agency found assets worth Rs 66 crore in the name of several companies and family members there. Apart from this, ED attached 25 lakh cash, luxury cars like BMW and Fortuner. Along with this, the agency has also frozen FDs worth Rs 6.26 crore.

Why did ED come to raid?

According to a report by Times of India , this company exports dairy products to 27 countries. The company is headquartered in Bhopal. ED conducted the raid in connection with the investigation of suspected money laundering and suspicious financial transactions from abroad.

Who complained to EOW?

A social worker named Bhagwan Singh Rajput had filed a written complaint with the EOW. He alleged that the company was manufacturing and selling poor quality cheese, butter, ghee and other dairy products on a large scale. He claimed that the company's director gets fake lab reports prepared to send these poor quality products abroad. It was also claimed that banned chemicals and oils are being used in making these dairy products.

During its investigation, EOW found that the company had prepared fake reports in the name of government-recognized labs across the country. According to the agency, those labs had confirmed that these reports were fake.

It was also alleged that the company submitted these fake certificates to the regional office of the 'Export Control Agency' in Indore. Then on the basis of this they got health certificates. It is claimed that with the help of these certificates, poor quality dairy products were sent to West Asian countries.

After this, EOW filed an FIR against the company for fraud, forgery and use of fake documents. After the search, EOW seized computer hard disks, laptops, mobile phones and pen drives. It was suspected that these devices were used to prepare fake lab reports.

Two years ago also the company was accused of tax evasion, then the Income Tax Department raided the company. In another case, the production of the company was stopped on 19 January 2022. Then it was complained that the water coming out of the factory contains chemicals. And this water is spoiling the crops nearby. The company was found guilty in this case and a fine of Rs 1.2 crore was also imposed.
