The Split star Nicola Walker has signed up for a brand new comedy from the creators of Baby Reindeer.
The actress, who is also known for her roles in Unforgotten, Annika and Last Tango in Halifax, is set to lead an upcoming Disney+ series that's being produced by Clerkenwell Films - the production company behind Netflix's hit stalker drama.
As well as Nicola, the comedy, titled Alice and Steve, will also star Flight of the Conchords actor Jemaine Clement. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, with further casting now underway.
Filming on the show, which is currently in its pre-production phase, is slated to commence in May.
A TV insider told The Sun: "Nicola Walker is an extremely talented and versatile actor and is widely respected in the industry and loved by viewers at home.
"Disney securing her for one of their new comedies is seen as a big win for the streamer, who are equally delighted to have signed up Jemaine.
"Pre-production has just kicked off on Alice and Steve and some contracts are yet to be finalised, as well as scripts and the filming schedule. Bosses are hoping the cameras will be rolling just before the summer, with the show likely to go out in 2026."
Nicola recently returned for a spin-off of beloved BBC drama The Split, titled The Split: Barcelona.
The two-part special aired in December, and followed the Defoe family as they travelled to the Spanish city for a wedding that could derail at any moment.
Last year, the actress also appeared in Sky Atlantic's historical drama Mary and George, which told the true story of how power-hungry Mary Villiers (Julianne Moore) and her son George (Nicholas Galitzine) hatched a plan to climb to the upper echelons of society. Nicola played Elizabeth Hatton, the lady-in-waiting to the queen consort of England, Anne of Denmark.
It's been a busy couple of months for the star, as she's also set to tread the boards in Mike Bartlett's new comedy play Unicorn - which kicks off at London's Garrick Theatre on February 4. The production also stars Nicola's The Split co-star Stephen Mangan, and The Crown's Erin Doherty.
"Polly and Nick have it all. Happily married, two children, successful careers. And yet there's something missing... something rare and unforeseen... waiting to add a much-need sparkle," teases the show's official synopsis.
