This Morning’s Alison Hammond has taken on a major new project despite her recent announcement that she plans to ‘take a year off from TV’.

The Sky original podcast, Smart TV, is a new spin-off to Rob Beckett’s Smart TV television series launching next week, ahead of the series returning to screens later this year.

Each episode sees Alison, 49, along with comedian and presenter Matt Crosby, talking with household names to hear about their perfect night in front of the television.

Alison then decides whether she’d be willing to join them. She considers if the night will excite her and if they provide the right snacks.

Alison isn’t afraid to hurt their feelings as she gives a verdict on their night - one they might not always be very happy with.

The series covers all TV, both old and new, including a trip down memory lane and an exploration of the TV that is making waves today.

With 21 episodes across 10 weeks, and two episodes weekly, celebrity guests include names across television kicking off with Richard E Grant, as well as , Prue Leith, Kathy Burke, Richard Armitage, Oti Mabuse, Rob Beckett and Dermot O’Leary.

Speaking about her new role, Alison said: “I am absolutely BUZZING to share my brand-new podcast, Smart TV! I’m teaming up with the brilliant Matt Crosby to chat all things telly—drama, reality, and everything in between! And we’re kicking off in style with the legendary Richard E. Grant as our first guest. Expect laughs, gossip, and top-tier telly chat—it’s going to be amazing babs!”

It comes as Alison, who is best known for her stints on and hit competition, , has hinted at taking a year-long break from her TV duties.

In a chat with , she revealed: "In the next ten years, I want to travel the , I would love to take a year off and just go and travel. Not just yet, but one day. I need to see the world before I die!"

The announcement came just days after she appeared on screen with her travel series Alison Hammond's Florida Unpacked alongside son Aidan. The ten-part show for Two sees the duo make their way around the very best that Florida has to offer on an affordable budget.

The Smart TV with Alison Hammond podcast will launch on 5 February
