Mathys Tel 'refuses to join Tottenham' as Man Utd and Arsenal get £50m transfer boost

have reportedly failed in their bid to sign Mathys Tel, leaving the door open for Manchester United and Arsenal to capture the Bayern Munich star.

The north London outfit reportedly submitted a £50.1million offer on Thursday, after Tel revealed his desire to leave in talks with Vincent Kompany.

But according to reports in France, Tel has 'refused' to join after mulling over the move with his family.

report that after turning down Spurs, there are clubs locked in talks with the player's camp - suggesting he could still move to England in the coming days.

The 19-year-old has attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe, with Spurs also joined by , and United in admiring the promising forward.

Spurs boss had remained coy over his purported interest in bringing in the teenager before the transfer deadline on February 3 when asked by reporters on Thursday.

Tel is yet to score in the Bundesliga this season with 13 appearances in all competitions, although he has only been afforded two league starts by head coach Kompany.

Chelsea were linked with the French starlet earlier in the window, with a potential swap deal involving Christopher Nkunku weighed up.

However, their interest in Tel has since cooled .

If the Blues do sanction a late move for Garnacho, it could free up funds for United to push through a move for Tel in the final days of the window.

United have reportedly , and selling Garnacho as well would leave a huge void for Tel on the left flank should he decide to join the Red Devils.

are also looking for attacking reinforcements and are said to be monitoring the situation for the France Under-21 international.

Mikel Arteta will be looking to scour the market in the final days after seemingly , having seen a £45m bid turned down.

And bringing in a young versatile attacker like Tel, who can play anywhere across the front three, may represent a low-risk option if he is available for loan.
