Kerala Tragedy: 20-Year-Old Girl Dies After Brutal Assault by Boyfriend

A 20-year-old girl from Chottanikkara, Kerala, was allegedly raped and brutally assaulted by her 24-year-old boyfriend, leading to her tragic death on Friday. The police have arrested the accused and filed a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Investigations are currently underway.

Severe Injuries Led to Death

According to the victim’s mother, she found her daughter unconscious and critically injured at home, with severe bleeding. Panchayat member Pradeep Kumar stated that the girl was rushed to a local hospital, but due to the severity of her condition, doctors referred her to a medical college, where she was placed on ventilator support. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on Friday.

Accused Had Previously Threatened the Victim’s Mother

The victim lived with her mother, as her father had passed away earlier. According to reports, the accused and his friends had previously threatened the mother, forcing her to move to another location. The girl, who studied in a special school, had known the accused for some time and had reportedly suffered mental and physical abuse from him before.

The victim’s mother also revealed that the accused frequently visited their home, despite objections from neighbors, which angered him. A police complaint had already been filed against him earlier regarding his behavior. After the victim’s death, her body was sent for post-mortem, and based on the autopsy report and medical statements, additional charges of murder may be filed against the accused.

Accused Confessed to Visiting the Victim’s House

During police interrogation, the accused admitted that he was at the victim’s house on the night of January 26 and that an argument took place between them. However, he has denied the allegations of sexual assault and physical abuse.

At present, a case has been registered against the accused under multiple sections of the IPC, along with relevant provisions of the POCSO Act. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure justice for the victim.
